TOMTEC at the 53. Annual Meeting for European Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology in Seville

Small booth - huge impact

The Annual Meeting for European Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC) has always been the spot for latest developments and innovations in pediatric cardiology. This year from May 15th to 18th in Seville, Spain, TOMTEC presented its most interesting and valuable progresses.

The TOMTEC booth of about 6 qm2 was small and cosy but nevertheless a meeting point for those cardiologists who were interested in how intelligent software can support and improve diagnostics of small hearts. Beside TOMTECs product features such as those for volumetric LV and RV analysis or the AutoSTRAIN tool, it was one person who attracted the visitors: Dr. Kai Thorsten Laser, Deputy Director of the Pediatric Heart Center and Center for Congenital Heart Defects at the Heart and Diabetes Center in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany.

Dr. Laser has been using the TOMTEC software to develop a workflow for valid 3D ultrasound functional measurements and quantification of both ventricles. In line of this work the team published the first ever reference values for 3D ultrasound diagnostics in pediatric cardiology – a breaktrough in pediatric cardiology. The press release announcing these findings were even published at the congress website (https://www.aepc2019.org/registration/press-releases/).

At the AEPC TOMTEC organized a clinical talk with Dr. Laser about “Volumetric assessment from simple to complex CHD – how does 4D Echo help?” that offers the opportunity to discuss the latest findings and developments.

In total 1.500 experts participate the 53. AEPC and TOMTEC thanks all of them that visited the booth as well as the talk and showed interest in the TOMTEC product family.
