Implementation of 4D TTE and 4D TEE in the Routine of the Echocardiography laboratory

How to benefit from the fourth dimension in TTE and TEE:
Live scanning and hands-on with TOMTEC in Dubai

As a kind of warm-up for Arab Health, the largest Healthcare Exhibition in the Middle East (January 28-31), TOMTEC supported a special echo-cardiology workshop organized by Medical Training Consultancy in Dubai that focused on 4D TTE and TEE. The purpose of the workshop, which took place from January 24-26, was to promote the implementation of 4D echocardiography imaging in the daily routine of echo labs. TOMTEC provided the workstations and the knowledge for a deeper look at the valves and ventricles.

25 participants from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Pakistan and UAE followed the invitation to listen to the keynote speakers Denisa Marura, MD, PhD, and Luigi P. Badano, MD, PhD, FESC, FACC – both from Padua, Italy. Their introduction to the theory of 4D echo built the foundation for the practical hands-on session at the 12 available workstations. With TOMTEC’s software packages, the participants learned how to quantify mitral valves, LV and LA as well as RV and masses with 3D/4D technology. They were not only unanimously surprised by the precision and reproducibility the technology offers but also were impressed by the ease of use and the time-saving automations of the TOMTEC software.

But there is more to software than functionality: an easy-to-handle user interface is key, be it in the workshop or in the healthcare environment at large where the software is used by a heterogeneous group such as anesthesiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists and sonographers.

For TOMTEC the views, experiences and opinions of experts from different specialties, disciplines and countries are a helpful source to learn more about the users’ needs in order to further improve the software.
